NGC2403 in Camelopardalis

NGC2403 in Camelopardalis. This great galaxy shouldn't be missed by any observer. I think it is a real treat watching it lie in it's star-rich environment. Be careful not to hurt your neck like I did when I was trying to locate it. Actually this is one of those galaxies of which I wonder why Messier didn't include it in his list. The official discovery was by William Herschel in 1788.

EXPOSURE DATA: Celestron C8 with Baader Alan Gee focal reducer, Vixen GP-DX equatorial mount; Atik 16HR camera; 54 unguided exposures of 80s; Februari 11 2008 The Hague. Originally also colour channels recorded, but I found out that my green filter is not really up to the job.

EXPOSURE DATA: TAL 150 PM 150mm f/5 Newtonian telescope on a Vixen SP equatorial mount; Starlight Xpress MX5-C CCD camera; 37 out of 40 unguided exposures of 60s; April 2, 2005 The Hague. Note the extra diffraction spike on the bright stars, probably caused by my focusser.
