NGC 7331 in PEGASUS

NGC7331.jpg

NGC7331 in PEGASUS; Four smaller galaxies are also visible in this field, which is sometimes referred to as the 'Deer Lick group'.

EXPOSURE DATA: TAL 150 PM 150mm f/5 Newtonian telescope on a Vixen SP equatorial mount; modified Starlight Xpress MX5-C camera, 52 out of 70 60s exposures, from my backyard in The Hague, October 27, 2005. This is my third attempt to image NGC 7331 and the best so far. The main problem is the huge difference in luminosity between the core and the outer regions. My 8 bit camera simply can't handle it! I tried to make the best of it though. B.t.w. below is my fifth attempt, nothing to write home about either, but I keep trying!
